Contrary to continued perception, skateboarding is pretty mainstream. So to learn that skateboarding on public roads in Cape Town is now illegal took me by surprise. Little is being done to provide skateboarders with viable alternatives. The proceeds of an exhibition of illustrations by Gerhard Human, on at Clarke’s Bar & Dining Room from 26 April, will go towards the development of skate parks in South Africa.
